MotoGP is the world’s premier motorcycling championship, with a season of 18 Grand Prix race weekends in 14 countries bringing together the world’s top motorcycle manufacturers like Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Ducati and Kawasaki - plus an elite list of riders from every corner of the globe. And the incredible racing action returns to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, right her on the gorgeous Monterey Peninsula July 22-24, 2011 No other road course in the U.S. challenges these world champion riders with such a dynamic, heart pounding combination of 11 turns, dramatic elevation changes of up to 300 feet and the plunging blind Corkscrew turn that drops an equivalent of 5 1/2 stories. The 2010 event had defending champion Dani Pedrosa suddenly lose the front of his motorcycle in lap 12 and crash out of the lead, leaving seven-time world champion Valentino Rossi and his teammate Jorge Lorenzo to battle it out for the win. Lorenzo celebrated his victory by dressing up in a spacesuit and performing a mock moon-walk through the Corkscrew gravel, where he planted his Lorenzo Land flag. 2011 will see defending World Champion Jorge Lorenzo and his new teammate and 2010 Rookie of the Year, Ben Spies (Yamaha Racing Team) compete against other leading riders Casey Stoner (Repsol Honda), Marco Simoncelli (San Carlo Honda Gresini), Colin Edwards (Tech 3 Yamaha), Andrea Dovizioso (Repsol Honda), Nicky Hayden (Ducati Team) and his legendary teammate Valentino Rossi (Ducati Team) at the world-renowned raceway. The Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix is a festive family environment that provides nonstop action on and off the track. Yamaha is celebrating 50 years of Grand Prix Racing and there will be a spectacular collection of anniversary activities in the Yamaha Marketplace ranging from stunt riding exhibitions and rider talks, to learn to ride programs and a children’s play area. Saturday night features a live performance on the GE Financial Stage by The Dirty Heads, who Rolling Stone named as one of the Top Bands of 2010. Tickets are still available and hotel rooms are filling up fast for this exciting event. Be sure to make your hotel reservation today by calling 800-232-4141.
