Monterey Road Trips - Pacific Coast Highway 1

By: Inns of Monterey / Oct 17, 2017

Perhaps one of the most anticipated events occurred down the coast last weekend with the opening of the new Pfieffer Canyon Bridge. The bridge collapsed during the winter storms that pounded the coast from January through March earlier this year and Caltran has worked very hard over these past 7 months to get a new bridge in place, making more of Big Sur accessible from the Monterey area. Now travelers have access to the rugged coastline of Big Sur for almost 70 miles from Monterey.

The central coast of California is extreme in its rugged beauty. There's no better way to explore the region than with scenic road trip through the Monterey Peninsula.
