One of the highlights is the Cooking for Solutions Gala on Friday night, May 18. Discover a wealth of tasting opportunities located in the aquarium’s exhibit galleries and on the ocean-view decks. Gourmet dishes will be prepared by celebrity chefs and 75 superb restaurants. In addition, there will be organic and sustainable wines from 60 leading wineries on the West Coast. Drinks of all types can be enjoyed in the beer garden and Safeway's Waterfront Bistro Lounge. Attendees will receive a souvenir wineglass and event program boasting recipes from the chefs who are participating in the Gala. There is also a silent auction featuring culinary adventures, premium wines, and dozens of unique items. Proceeds will go towards helping the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Seafood Watch Program.
Prior to the Cooking for Solutions Gala, there will be a one-hour roundtable discussion with Michel Nischan, owner of the Dressing Room restaurant and president of the Wholesome Wave; Rick Bayless, respected chef and founder of the Frontera Farmer Foundation; and Nell Newman, Co-Founder and President, Product Development and Public Relations at Newman's Own Organics. They will be talking about the passion and values that inform their work. Indulge in tasty hors d'oeuvres and excellent wines from Carmel Road Winery and La Crema. Plus, everyone who comes will take home a copy of Michel Nischan's cookbook, “Sustainably Delicious: Making the World a Better Place, One Recipe at a Time.”
