Keeping it Green: The Inns of Monterey get Green Seal Certified
At the Inns of Monterey, being environmentally friendly is a way of life. That’s why we’re proud to be active members Green Seal, a non-profit organization that strives to realize a healthier and cleaner environment. A Green Seal Certification means that a business meets rigorous Green Seal requirements. From aggressive water-saving goals and recycling practices to waste reduction and energy efficiency, a Green Seal Certification is difficult to achieve and requires property managers to always be conscious of the effects we have on the environment around us.
We’re pleased to say that the Spindrift Inn, the Monterey Bay Inn, and the Best Western PLUS Victorian Inn are all Green Seal Certified properties. Our Silver ratings include an extensive list of requirements.
Our staff are known for their attention to detail, so it shouldn’t surprise our guests that we care about the finest points of environmental awareness. We make efforts to minimize the use of disposable items. As we upgrade our properties, we choose only the most energy-efficient products whenever possible. Being located so close to Salinas Valley means constant mindfulness of water use and conservation, which is why our hotels are upgraded on with low-flow plumbing. We even purchase less toxic alternatives to typical cleaning products to ensure that our guests – and the world around them – are never exposed to harmful chemicals from our properties.
There are other ways that the Inns of Monterey show that we care about the world we live in. Our guests can purchase packages that include tickets to the Monterey Bay Aquarium; in this way, we help the Aquarium meet their goal of bringing awareness to the importance of our vast oceanic ecosystems.
Our ocean views at the Spindrift Inn and the Monterey Bay Inn let our guests delight in sightings of otters playing in the kelp forests of the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary; guests might also spot sea lions, seals, or even dolphins from the comfort of their rooms. Experience the peace of mind knowing that your hotel of choice has helped minimize our impact on these beautiful creatures.
