Visit the Steinbeck Adobe during Monterey’s annual holiday event, Christmas in the Adobes celebration – December 5 & 6, 2014 Bring your family for a festive holiday evening walk through old Monterey for history, games, refreshments and fun during Monterey's Christmas in the Adobes, Debember 5-6, 2014. Don't miss fandango dance lessons at the Custom House, or bagpipes and cookies at Robert Louis Stevenson House. Visit the famous adobe owned by John Steinbeck in late 1944 until early 1945 where he wrote "The Pearl." Tickets are on sale now and may be purchased online or at the Cooper Museum Store (10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily), 525 Polk St. at Alvarado in Historic Downtown Monterey. Children under the age of 5 are free. Proceeds benefit Monterey State Historic Park children's educational programs.
