Monterey's annual Christmas in the Adobes celebration is a wonderful holiday tradition enjoyed by everyone. Thursday, December 8 and Saturday, December 10, 2012 5—9pm stroll the streets of downton Monterey and visit the beautifully decorated adobes where you'll be greeted by docents dressed in period costume. Tickets are on sale now. Adults are $20, youth (ages 6-17) only $2. Children age 5 and under are free! Purchase Tickets at Cooper Museum Store 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. - 525 Polk Street at Alvarado, or call event information line after October 15 to charge tickets by phone - (831) 649-7120. Stay at any one of the nearby Inns of Monterey where you will also enjoy the local history and culture of the Cannery Row area. The Victorian Inn serves daily complimentary breakfast and and afternoon wine in the Historic Lang Victorian which was built in 1906. And Spindrift Inn sits on the former site of the Ocean View Hotel, built and operated by a Chinese investor and Monterey restaurateur, Maen Chang Wu. The Ocean View was opened in 1927 and featured an ornately carved and shingled Asian style roof. Colorful tiles and long awnings decorated the front of the hotel, its street-front entrance shared with a Chop Suey parlor and an American style café.
