The Big Sur International Marathon takes place April 29, 2012 with runners from around the world competing along scenic Highway 1 on the breathtaking California coast en route to the finish line in Carmel. Participants who finish the world-class marathon in 6 hours or under will receive the Big Sur International Marathon finishers' medallion. Plus, they'll be listed in the online results as well as the Official Results Book, and they'll be able to download and print their Official Finisher's Certificate. Awards are given out to the top five male and female finishers and the top three masters. Masters are both male and female runners who are 40 years old and over. Divisional awards are presented to five people in five-year incremental age divisions. All first place overall and division winners will be recipients of Asics Shoe gift certificates. Men and women are also eligible for special division awards in such categories as Monterey County Runner, Clydesdale (men over 195 pounds), Bonnydale (women over 150 pounds), Active Military, and Mozartic, which is for a runner who has completed training in an area of the world with an annual snowfall of two fee or more.
