AT&T’s Pebble Beach National Pro-Am celebrates its 25th anniversary with the February 8-14 golf tourney. This 72-hole PGA Tour championship dates back to the 1930’s when Bing Crosby gathered a ‘few friends’ to raise money for charity... and have a little fun. A ‘clambake’ he called it. Top tour professionals team with Hollywood celebrities, world renowned musicians, and industry captains as they all compete for a $6.4 million purse. Foursomes rotate to MPCC Shore Course, Spyglass Hill and Pebble Beach Golf Links Thursday through Saturday. The infamous ‘cut’ is made on Saturday night and the leading 60 professionals and 25 pro-am teams play Pebble Beach on Sunday for the championship. The real winners of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am are the hundreds of nonprofit organizations which benefit from the proceeds of the tournament. To date, over $93 million has been raised and distributed through the Monterey Peninsula Foundation. The Foundation’s grants benefit youth, education, health, human services, arts, community and environmental programs.
