What do whales, butterflies, birds and mountain lions all have in common? They are all creatures on display at the Pacific Grove Natural History Museum. Children and adults will enjoy the opportunity to explore the birds and wildlife, plants, geology and cultural richness that make Pacific Grove and the Monterey Bay so fascinating. You will know you have arrived at the Pacific Grove Natural History Museum as you are greeted by 'Sandy' a life size Gray Whale sculpture that is located in front of the building. Children love to climb on Sandy and stop to pose for pictures in front of her. In addition to the Monarch Butterfly exhibit, Native American displays, and whale gallery, the Pacific grove Natural History Museum showcases one of the most extensive bird collections on display on the West Coast. While there is no admission fee, a donation of $2 per person is recommended. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday. Adventurous visitors may chose to walk along the ocean front recreation trail from the Victorian Inn or Spindrift Inn directly to the museum, however plenty of parking is available in the several blocks surrounding the museum.
