Big Sur
A drive down California Highway 1 to Big Sur is a must for any visitor to the Monterey Bay area. This famous stretch of coastal California is distinguished by unparalleled ocean views and towering redwood forests. A number of California State Parks along Highway 1 provide access to Big Sur beaches and secluded coves. McWay Falls, located at Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, is one of the most photographed waterfalls in the United States. Big Sur is also home to the Los Padres National Forest that offers miles of hiking trails. Watch for California condors nesting high in the stately redwoods.

We have a number of things coming up on our calendar. Santa’s workshop will be at Cannery Row every weekend through Dec 19th; the Monterey Bay Aquairum and La Mirada museum are both wonderful. There is a great miniatures show happening at the Monterey Museum of Art. There is Wild Things in Salinas (maybe for on your way in or on your way out) which is a wild animal sanctuary that gives tours. And Earth Bound Farms gives daily tours of their organic farms in Carmel Valley.
There are a lot of options, and it just depends on what you are looking for!
