TripAdvisor 2013 Certificate of Excellence Winners

To qualify for a Certificate of Excellence, businesses must maintain an overall rating of four or higher, out of a possible five, as reviewed by travelers on TripAdvisor, and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months. Additional criteria include the volume of reviews received within the last 12 months.

“We are pleased to receive a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for each of our Inns of Monterey hotels,” said Randy Venard, Vice President & General Manager at the Inns of Monterey. “We strive to offer our customers an authentic Monterey experience, and these accolades are evidence that our hard work is translating into positive reviews on TripAdvisor.”

Water Conservation While Traveling

Nearly an inch of rain has fallen across the the Monterey Peninsula in the past 24 hours. While we welcome the storms that help fill our local reservoirs, we are pleased to know the forecast for the rest of the weekend calls for sunshine.

As a Green Seal Silver Certified business, water conservation is extremely important to us. We believe that conserving water is the right thing to do, and if everyone does a a little, we will all benefit a lot! Try to be mindful of your water use when traveling. Don’t waste water just because someone else is paying the bill. Here are a few tips for conserving water whether you are at home or at a hotel:

Take shorter showers. Try to limit yourself to 5 minutes.
In the shower, decrease the flow to achieve a comfortable temperature instead of increasing the hot or cold water.
For baths, close the drain before turning the faucet. To balance the initial burst of cold water add only hot water later.
Turn off the tap while shaving, washing your face or brushing your teeth.
Report any leaks to the front desk right away.
Use our linen reuse card to let housekeeping know that you’d like your bed remade and don’t need to have the sheets laundered.

Washington, D.C. based non-profit Green Seal, the premier independent ecolabel in the United States, is excited to announce that the Inns of Monterey have been awarded Green Seal™ Silver level certification. With this certification the Inns of Monterey has proven its dedication to environmental stewardship.

The Green Seal Standard for Hotels and Lodging Properties, GS-33, is one of the most robust environmental standards in the hospitality industry. In order to receive certification, a hotel must meet and adhere to stringent guidelines set out by the standard. These include requirements in waste management, energy efficiency, water conservation, wastewater management and green procurement. A certified property’s records, processes and procedures are evaluated and an on-site audit of the property is conducted. Certified hotels submit to annual monitoring to assure continued compliance.
